Peaked Too Soon

You said you'd call me,

When you got to the peak.

You sent photos for me to see,

And I couldn't wait for us to speak.

When I saw your call coming through,

We spoke excitedly about your time.

You shared vivid details of your view,

And made me believe you were mine.

But looking back,

Maybe we peaked too soon.

Maybe I ignored the cracks,

Cause I loved our tune.

But now you're gone,

And I'm wondering how we tumbled down the mountain so quickly.

I don't know what I did wrong,

But it all makes me feel so sickly.

Maybe the top of the peak was too high for you,

I guess I'll never know.

I wonder if those views haunt you too,

But I'll still love them so.
